Young Flyers (Ages 10 to 11yrs)

This camp is designed specifically for students entering grade 5 or 6 (10-12yrs.old. There are many activities and field trips to various places on the airport property. There is also a field trip to an aviation museum and grass strip airport in Mayville, NY. Young Flyers will expose kids to the exciting and interesting field of aviation.

Students will:

  • Learn about aircraft instruments and flight controls

  • Assist in a pre-flight inspection

  • Participate in a field trip to North Coast Air

  • Participate in a field trip to the airport fire department

  • Participate in a field trip to the airport control tower

  • Participate in a field trip to a local grass strip Airport

  • 15 minute air tour over Presque Isle

  • Introduction to drone usage and care

Camp 1 (Age 12)

This Camp is an 8 week course is designed for students with

NO prior knowledge or experience in flying.

(Age 12)

Meets: 1 Day / Week   (Tuesdays)

Students will be introduced to:
1. Aircraft instruments and Flight Controls.
2. Pre-Flight Inspections of the Aircraft.
3. Phonetic Alphabet and Basic radio communications
4. Intro to Airport Traffic Patterns.
5. Intro to Aviation Weather
6. Field Trips to various parts of Erie International Airport
7. Basic introduction to sectional charts and use of plotter
8. 15 minute flight over Presque Isle
9. Use and introduction to the flight simulator
10. Drone Activities

Starting Date: June 12th, 2018
Time:  9:00am - 11:00am
Ending Date: July 31st 2018

Camp 2 (Age 13)           

Students will be introduced to:
1. Intensive use of Instruments and Flight Controls
2. Conduct Pre Flight Inspections
3. Radio Communications at Controlled and Uncontrolled Airports
4. Airport Traffic Pattern
5. Aviation Weather METAR and TAF
6. Intro to AIRSPACE
7. Reading Sectional Charts, Using Plotters, Flight Computers
8. Flight Simulator Flying
9. 15 minute Air Tour over Presque Isle
10. 15 minute Flight in Airport Traffic Pattern
11. Professional Drone Usage
12. Begin Working on and Quizzing FAA Written Test Questions

Meets: Tuesdays 11:00AM - 1:00PM

Starting Date: June 12th 2018

Ending Date: July 31st 2018

Camp 3 (Age 14)           

This 8 week Camp is designed for the young student that shows a high interest in obtaining his/her pilot's license. Students with no previous experience are welcome however the youngest (or if under 14yrs.) of this age group are encouraged to take Aero Camp #1 first.

Meets: 1 Day / Week  (Thursday)

Students will be introduced to:
1. Final Review of Instruments and Flight Controls
2. Conduct and Complete Pre Flight Inspection
3. Review Radio Communications for Controlled and Uncontrolled Airports
4. Review Airport Traffic Patterns
5. Aviation Weather METAR and TAF
6. Airspace and VFR Weather Mnimums
7. Flight Planning for a Cross Country Flight
8. Weight and Balance Calculations
9. FAA Written Exam Prep
10. Approx 2.5 hours of loggable flight time!

Camp 4 (Age 15) 

This is the Camp when you really start flying!!!

Meets:  (1 day/week)  Wednesday  9:00am to 11:00am


       This camp is designed for the young pilot that is serious about making the commitment to becoming a young Private Pilot.  In addition to the topics covered below in a classroom setting these participants will receive 5 (five) actual hours with and instructor of in flight training.  This is the real transition from a young camper to a conventional student.  These flight hours will be conducted with our Certified Flight Instructors at a time that will work with each individual camper (other than class time).  The classroom portion of this camp will be held on Wed. from 10:30-12:30 for a total of 16hr. of total instruction in addition to the 5hrs. of Flight time!!! A student may purchase additional flight time if desired.  5 hours = $1125.00.

Camp 5 (Age 16)

This is a full on, 8 week VFR Ground School designed for the student who is or soon will be actively flying and working towards achieving their Private Pilots License.

VFR Ground School 

Meets: 3 Days a week (MWF) @  2:00pm -4:00pm

Students will:
1. Receive ALL Books and necessary Materials for the completion of the Written Pilots Exam. Assist in Pre Flight Inspections.
2. Meet 2 Days a week for classroom work from the provided materials. Learn about traffic patterns.
3. Meet 1 Day a week for work on the FAA questions from the Exam, and to review the weeks work.
4. Schedule and actually take the computer generated FAA Written Pilots Exam. This will be done individually outside of normal class time at the student’s available time.

Time:   2:00pm - 4:00pm
Ending Date:   August 2nd 2018

Cost:  $1,500.00

All Camps are subject to mandatory minimum number students.
